History
2010 World Series – Texas Rangers vs. San Francisco Giants
The 2010 World Series featured the Texas Rangers who reached their first Series in its’ 50-year franchise history, dating back to their inception as the Washington Senators in 1961, against the San Francisco Giants looking to win their first Series since moving to California in 1958.
The Series opened in beautiful San Francisco as several downtown landmarks were illuminated orange for Game 1, and what was projected as a pitcher’s duel between former Cy Young winners Cliff Lee of the Rangers and Tim Lincecum of the Giants, turned out to be a hit fest and ultimately an 11-7 San Francisco win.
In Game 2 the pitching returned as Matt Cain tossed nearly eight shutout innings for San Francisco and they blew the game open with seven runs in the eighth for a 9-0 win and a 2-0 series lead.
Game 3 in Texas saw all runs scored come from home runs, and the Rangers won 4-2 to become the first team from Texas to win a World Series game.
In Game 4 Giants’ 21-year old rookie pitcher Madison Bumgarner was brilliant as he allowed just three hits in eight shutout innings, and an early two-run home run from Aubrey Huff provided all the runs needed as San Francisco won 4-0 and took a 3-1 series lead.
Game 5 was a rematch of the Game 1 Cy Young winners Lee and Lincecum, and both pitched six shutout innings before San Francisco shortstop Edgar Renteria tagged lee for a three-run homer in the seventh and a 3-0 lead.  The Giants hung on to win 3-1 for their sixth World Series title, and first since 1954 when they played in New York.  San Francisco finally had a winner.
San Francisco Wins 4-1
For the series, San Francisco outscored Texas 29-12 and outhit them 42-29.
Tomorrow:  2011 World Series – Texas Rangers vs. St. Louis Cardinals
