Walk-Off Win Wednesday

With 3 walk-off wins on Wednesday, it was the wildest day of games so far.
April 4 Games Results

Chicago White Sox 5, Kansas City 2
The White Sox smacked 3 HRs (Dunn, Viciedo & Flowers) and starter Jake Peavy cruised through 6 innings allowing just one run for his first win of the season.
Texas 4, Houston 0
A day after Yu Darvish struck out 14 Houston hitters, starter turned reliever turned starter again Alexi Ogando struck out 10 more as he worked into the 7th inning as the Astros failed to score for the second game in a row.
Minnesota 3, Detroit 2
Detroit had questions at the back end of the bullpen going into the season and it surfaced as two relievers couldn’t hold a one-run lead late.  Eduardo Escobar hit a 2-run double with 1 out in the 9th to lift the Twins to the walk-off win.
Boston 7, New York Yankees 4
The Yankees lost another player to injury when starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda was hit on the hand in the second inning and had to leave the game.  The Red Sox pounded out 13 hits and held on for the win as every Red Sox starter had a hit except 3B Will Middlebrooks.
Washington 3, Miami 0
Gio Gonzalez homered and pitched 6 innings of 2-hit ball as the Marlins were held scoreless again.
Pittsburgh 3, Chicago Cubs 0
Wandy Rodriguez 2-hit the Cubs through 6 and 2/3 innings pitched and the Pirates pushed across 3 runs on 6 hits to even the series in Pittsburgh.
Cleveland 3, Toronto 2 (11 innings)
Jose Bautista tied the game in the 9th for Toronto with a solo HR, but Mark Reynolds lifted the Indians in the 11th inning with a solo HR of his own.
Tampa Bay 8, Baltimore 7
Chris Davis hit a 3-run HR for the second consecutive game and the Orioles tied the game in the 9th on a Brian Roberts double, but Matt Joyce rescued the Rays with a dramatic walk-off HR to give the Rays the victory in Tampa Bay.
Atlanta 9, Philadelphia 2
The Braves pounded Roy Halladay early and Justin Upton & Jason Heyward each homered to lift Atlanta at home.
New York Mets 8, San Diego  4

Matt Harvey one-hit the Padres through 7 innings, striking out 10 and  Lucas Duda, John Buck & Ike Davis each hit 2-run HRs in the home blowout win.
Los Angeles Angels 5 , Cincinnati 4
Brandon Phillips hit a 3-run HR and the Reds blew a 4-run lead in the 8th only to have Joey Votto bail them out with a walk-off single in the 9th inning as they beat the Angels at home.
Colorado 7, Milwaukee 3
Will Roasrio, Michael Cuddyer, & Dexter Fowler all homered for the Rockies in Milwaukee as Colorado won the series 2-1.

Arizona 10, St. Louis 9 (16 innings)

In the longest game of the season so far, the Diamondbacks tied the game in the bottom of the 8th inning on an Aaron Hill single, tied it again in the 12th inning on a sacrifice fly, and won it in walk-off style in the 16th inning with a Chad Pennington single as Arizona beat the Cardinals in Phoenix.
Oakland 6, Seattle 2
Tommy Milone gave up 2 runs in 7 innings and Jed Lowrie & Chris Young both homered for the A's in the home victory.  Michael Morse hit his league-leading 3rd HR for the Mariners.

San Francisco 5, Los Angeles Dodgers 3
Pablo Sandoval & Hunter Pence each homered and Tim Lincecum didn't allow an earned run despite walking 7 as the Giants took the rubber game in Los Angeles.
Fantasy Spin  - The Seattle Mariners moved in their outfield fences this year and Michael Morse is having a field day so far.  The beastly cleanup hitter has shown his HR potential in the past, having hit 31 HRs in 2011 with the Nationals and should be a consistent source of HRs & RBI all year as he quickly leads all MLB in HRs.  Morse played in Seattle from 2005 - 2008 and seems to be very comfortable in the Pacific Northwest and could be a top-10 first baseman at season's end.

News & Notes

Roy Halladay struck out 9 Atlanta hitters in 3 & 1/3 innings, recording all his outs via the strikeout before leaving the game having given up 5 earned runs to the Braves.

Houston hitters have struck out 43 times in their first 3 games of the season and were nearly the victim of a perfect game for the second consecutive year on Tuesday night, not something to be proud of and it's just the beginning of a really long season in the American League.

A.L. MVP Watch  Michael Morse, Seattle Mariners - 3 HRs in 2 games
N.L. MVP Watch  Justin Upton, Atlanta Braves - 2 HRs in 2 games

Record Watch - Michael Morse is on pace for 243 HRs

History – Team History    Los Angeles Angels
The Los Angeles Angels originated as a Pacific Coast League team from 1903 – 1957 until western expansion into the area by the Dodgers forced the team to Spokane, Washington.  Los Angeles was granted an American League team in 1961 and naturally they kept the Angels name.  They played their first season at Wrigley Field in suburban L.A. (named after William Wrigley Jr. who owned the Angels and the Chicago Cubs of the National League) and he modeled it after his Wrigley Field in Chicago.  Some might remember it as the field where the old Home Run Derby shows were filmed in the 1960s.  The next 3 years they shared the Dodgers stadium Chavez Ravine before finally moving to Anaheim for the start of the 1966 stadium where they've been there ever since.  They appeared in only one World Series, in 2002 when they beat the San Francisco Giants in 7 games.
