Here’s
what’s happening in baseball:
Game
of the Day for Wednesday 5/30
Baltimore Orioles 9, Washington Nationals 6
The most exciting game of the day featured eight home runs, three by one player, two by another, and a six-run seventh inning by the home team Orioles that resulted in a dramatic come-from-behind win. Washington third baseman Ryan Zimmerman homered in his first three at-bats, helping the Nationals and pitcher Jordan Zimmerman (8-3) to a 6-2 lead before the Oriole's bats woke up and electrified the home crowd . In the bottom of the seventh, Steve Pearce started the scoring with a two-run homer and Chris Davis finished it with his second home run of the game, a two-run shot that put the game out of reach for Washington. Baltimore's bullpen held the lead by not allowing a hit in the final four and and two thirds innings, capped by Jim Johnson's 16th save. Chris Davis has scored a run in his last eight games now and his 19 home runs lead all of baseball.
Rest
of the day’s scores:
Consecutive

San Diego walked off winners against Seattle in the tenth inning when Will

History
– 1916 World Series
Winner: Boston
Red Sox 4-1 against the Brooklyn Robbins.
Just like in 1915, the Red Sox played their home
games at the larger Braves Field rather than one year old Fenway Park, and the
crowds were tremendous, averaging 33,000.
Red Sox pitching once again proved to be the dominating factor in the
series, with Eddie Shore winning two games and Babe Ruth pitching 13 scoreless
innings in a Game 2 victory. Ruth would
go on to throw a record 29 consecutive World Series innings. Boston outscored Brooklyn 21-13 overall, and
outhit them 39-34. Hall-of-Famers in the
series included for Boston pitchers Harry Hooper and Herb Pennock of course
Babe Ruth; and for Brooklyn Manager Wilbert Robertson, pitcher Rube Marquad, and
outfielders Zach Wheat and Casey Stengel who would enter the Hall-of Fame as a
manager after leading the New York Yankees seven world championships from
1949-1958.
